RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Need a medical exam or vaccine for the upcoming school year? The Richmond and Henrico Health Districts are offering free vaccinations and screenings to help children meet requirements for the upcoming school year.
Elementary school students new to Richmond Public Schools must undergo a medical exam and be up to date on vaccinations to meet state requirements. There are also several vaccines required for 7th and 12th grade entry.
VCU prescribes COVID-19 vaccinations for the fall semester 2021; July 15th deadline for status reporting
COVID-19 vaccines are not required for school attendance, but are highly recommended for children 12 years and older.
Children’s and COVID-19 vaccine events for RPS families:
- Thursday, July 15, from 12pm to 2pm at Martin Luther King and River City Middle Schools
Back-to-school and childhood vaccination event for all school-age children:
- Tuesday, July 20, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Richmond City Health District (400 E Cary St)
Parents should note that physical exercises are only for elementary school students. There are currently no physical exercises available.
