The Mercedes F1 team does not appear to have gotten over the Abu Dhabi heartbreak. The team believes controversial decisions by the race committee have robbed Lewis Hamilton of his 8th world title. Since then dark clouds have hung over the future of the Brackley team. Hamilton has been out of the social media spotlight since Abu Dhabi, and of course with no certainty about his F1 return.

With Valtteri Bottas leaving the team and the odds of Hamilton bowing out of his seat, Mercedes is on the slippery slope. A number of new regulations apply for the upcoming 2022 season and teams are working hard to find an ideal car. Although many expect a shift in performance dynamics on the grid, Red Bull and Mercedes are still favorites for the 2022 season.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko recently made a prediction about competitor Mercedes and its performance in the coming season.

The last time F1 ran into a drastic standings was in 2014. Needless to say, Mercedes came out with the best car after that, winning all but one of the titles.
Marko predicts another strong Mercedes for the 2022 F1 season
Red Bull has resumed its dominance in F1 after 7 years. Max Verstappen won the Drivers’ Championship in one of the best seasons ever that fans will remember. But what made this title special was beating an impressive side that had dominated the sport for so long. Now, with a major overhaul of the rules, many expect Mercedes to be a front runner again.

Marko, who has been critical of the Brackley men in the past, has boldly expressed his support. In a recent part of his interview, reported by Motorsport.com, Marko said he would be shocked to see the team underperform in 2022. “Nothing is guaranteed but I would be very surprised if Mercedes couldn’t fight for the title this year.”
This statement is credible as it comes from one of the oldest observers of Formula 1 in the paddock. Marko has explored the length and breadth of the sport in various capacities for the longest time. The teams will soon travel to Barcelona for the first days of testing of the all-new 2022 cars.
